The Story of Stuff
2008 January 23
HT: Brad, for drawing my attention to this short video.
Our Luke 3 focus on the message of John the Baptist has everything to do with practical living inside a new kind of Kingdom that fundamentally challenges the kingdoms we tend to create. One of those kingdoms is brilliantly illuminated in this story:

I was introduced to this video last month. Although I agree with most of it, I believe it has the potential to offend a certain political party….I’m not affiliated with any political party, but do have certain family members in which the “buzz words” used would offend them and they wouldn’t even listen to the rest of the story.
Have been pondering a lot in the last month about how we are supposed to be good citizens and help stimulate the economy and spend money, yet give generously and save (some say at least three month’s salary) for a rainy day.
Thanks for letting me share.
kimfromks,
I could say I agree with most of it also – but I’m not so concerned with political philosophy as I am shocked that a story like this rings broadly true. It is sad that people would watch this video and not be able to get past the ‘buzz’ words. (I agree with your assessment that some wouldn’t!).
I think both political parties should be offended by their collective leadership toward this present condition – and we all should be offended by our participation in this story.
