5 Things I Dig About Jesus
Doug over at Perigrinatio tagged me. So what the heck – here goes:
5 Things I Dig About Jesus:
1. I dig that Jesus is unexpected. Surprising. Just what we need but in a way we didn’t know we needed it.
2. I dig that Jesus was the embodiment of his own message. His life is faith, hope, love – or – love of God and neighbor – or – ‘the Kingdom is at hand’ – or – ‘Jesus is Lord’. (however you want to frame the good news).
3. I dig that Jesus connects people that wouldn’t otherwise make sense together. Jews & Greeks, yes, but also someone like me with most of the people that put up with me.
4. I dig that Jesus is an inexhaustible well of wisdom, life, and mystery. The further I go, the more I understand that it is only the beginning…
5. I dig that Jesus modeled consistent engagement in the face of the kinds of struggles that would make me want to disengage. Jesus experienced a full range of dark emotions, but always found strength to show up again.
Those, of course, are only 5 things I dig.
So I’ll tag some folks in my community:

an excellent list… thanks Rustin!
I’ve always been interested in the way the Jesus was not what the Jews expected. So unexpected, in fact, that He was hated at worst, and ignored at best by the majority of them. I often wonder if when Christ returns in glory if He will again be something other than anticipated.
Toby,
Great question. Biblical promises aren’t as detail-oriented as we might like.
