A Night Out
Last evening, I took the family to a great art exhibition at Jacob’s Well Church in midtown. The featured artist was Jeremy Collins. You can read all about him here. I also ran into some friends from Christ Church Anglican, where I used to work and some friendly bloggers like jmac and beth.
Then I spent a few hours at a new local pub with some fellows from my community. If you haven’t hung out in a pub in the last six months, you may be deluding yourself as to how effective the church is at relating to the majority of the population. My unscientific poll of people in that setting tells me that 90% (at least) wouldn’t give a (hoot) about your church or mine. The other 10% actually go to your church (or mine) and are there because they are trying to care about church, but they just haven’t found it to be that compelling.
We’ve got to rethink–reimagine–repent.
